Energy Powered Dog Leash

Goddard Technologies (GTI) is a product design and development firm for medical, consumer, industrial and military products. GTI worked with Fido Fashions to develop a self-power generating dog leash. Dog walkers everywhere will not need those flashlights anymore. The dog leash is designed for multiple sized dogs. The leash also comes with a quick locking break to stop the recoil of the leash. The leash comes with doggie bags, three high intensity LED lights and a safety button in case there is any trouble. It's power and energy is developed when the dog pulls the leash out and also by the recoil when the dog comes to a stop. The energy that is developed is stored in lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. So that there would be no overcharging, there are internal protections built in to the leash. The LED lights could run for six hours or more from a fully charged battery. Right now there is no price or exact date on its release but it should be on the market this year.

The new and improved Lamp

Noon Studio is a London and Avignon based design office, created by two designers, Gautier Pelegrin and Vincent Taïani. They campaign "honest materials, simplicity of execution, forward thinking and spatial awareness." Part of their newest designs is of lamp called Jar Lamp. This lamp is made out of wood and small enough to fit on your desk. It has a rotating lid which acts as a switch to control light intensity. It comes in an oak color and black. I think it is pretty cool beacuse it sets a tone in any room.

Estee Lauter Sec3

As her business grew she hired a spokes person, who worked very closely with her. They traveled the United States talking to department store buyers, and trying to create a bigger name for her products.
By the 1950s, Josephine added fragrances to her collection. By 1973 Estee Lauter was known for elegance and femininity. Over the next decade the once home-based company boomed and created new products such as Clinque in 1968. Clinque is a line of skin care products and makeup. It was created to target women who are interested and knowledgeable about their skin. In 1990 Estee Lauter Inc. introduced a line called Origins. Origins is a line of botanically based products for skin care, makeup, and sensory therapy.
In the mid-1990s Estee Lauter Inc. distributed products to over 100 countries, including Germany, Hong Kong, Russia, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Mexico, the Ukraine, Malaysia, and Venezuela. In the late 1990s, it was known as one the largest cosmetics companies in the world, with over 15,000 employees and annual sales of almost 4$ billion. It was ranked 727 on Business Week’s Global 1000 world’s most valuable companies. Josephine became one the wealthiest self-made women of the twentieth-century

When Josephine was twenty she was interested in the beauty business but also was considering a career in acting. During her twenties she met Joseph Lauter and after a three-year courtship they were married in a formal Jewish ceremony. For the next several years Josephine started a family but did not lose her love for cosmetics. She would create her own products in her house and eventually put her home-based business in the New York telephone directory as Lauter Chemists.

In 1933 Josephine marketed goods in her apartment. Some of her sales come through the mail but the bulk of her income came from local Manhattan beauty Parlors. For the next several years most of her product were sold in beauty parlors. When Josephine sold her first products in New York beauty Parlors she changed the look and the name to Estee Lauter for a more feminine look to her products.
By the end of World War II, Josephine wanted to expand her business so her and her husband, Joe, went into business together. They opened an office in Manhattan, relying on savings and some finical help from her father. By 1946, the company, Estee Lauter Cosmetics was founded.
Josephine was very particular on where her products were being distributed. She only wanted them to be sold to women who may not have had an extensive experience with makeup so she focused on only premium department stores.

Josephine Ester Mentzer better known as Estee Lauder was born July 1st, 1908 in Corona, Queens New York. Josephine’s parents where Hungarian Jewish emigrants, who came to America in search for a better life. Her parents had two daughters, Grace and Josephine Ester. As a child Josephine loved playing with her mother’s beauty products. She loved applying, what she called, “treatments” on her family and friends.
At times she would help her father in his store, which was below their apartment. Here she learned how to keep track of merchandise, learned communication skills, and how to handle tools in the windows. She also worked in another family business.
At sixteen she spent most of her free time in her uncle’s small store in Manhattan called New Way Laboratories. Her uncle’s store distributed beauty products. Josephine was very interested in how creams can improve a women’s face, and soften and smooth the skin. From her uncle she learned very quickly how to mix oils, wax, borax, lanolin, and other ingredients. On her own she would experiment with different ingredients to create new products. After school she would makeover some of her schoolmates and use what she learned in her uncles store.

Friday, January 22nd a women who was part an adult tour in the Met fell on to Picasso's "The Actor." There has been many questions over repairing the canvas because it is over 105 years old and it was most likely painted over another painting. It is hard to make an accurate decision on whether repairing the the canvas is the right decision. Officials say that there is a 6in tear on the bottom right of the canvas. Canvases during this time were very delicate so repairing it will not be an easy task.

Gear Ring

Core 77 posted a new form of jewelry today called Gear Ring. The ring was designed by Ben Hopson and Glen Liberman of Kinekt Design. They were inspired by small mechanisms and their complementary movements. He said he wanted to create something that was complex enough to play with but small enough to wear. The ring is made from highest quality of surgical stainless steel which makes the ring resistant to scratching, rusting, tarnishing and fading. It is also hypoallergenic for those who are allergic to metal. It is available for purchase online here for $165 with limited sizes. I think the whole design of the ring is really cool. I like how the ring spins so you could play with it if you get board. It is a bit bulky so it looks more like a man's ring so i would never buy it for myself but possibly for my brother or boyfriend.
