Not All Artist Are Starving!

"Not All Artist Are Starving" was an event held on Tuesday, March 2nd 2010. It was hosted by a club from Hofstra called HAGA (Hofstra's Association for Graphic Artists). This event was very formal and informative. It was a night of social networking with Hofstra alumni and current employers who actually hold various jobs in the arts. These speakers included Mieki Anekawa, Yvonne Dagger, Amy Dresser, Amy Odell, Sean O'Kane, Christine Tyrell, Marc Whalen, and Letha Wilson. They were all excellent speakers and gave a real eye opener to us students who plan on becoming a designer or having a career in the fine arts. A few encouraging marks I remember form the event are:

• It is a good idea to intern
• don't quite your day job
• things don't always come out the way you planned them. Expect accidents to happen and they can happen for the better
• "Realize the shadow you live in...NYC", take advantage of it
• Don't loose hope and have fun!

Thank you Haga for hosting this event. It was successful and I plan on becoming a Haga member in the near future!
